Day   top

  • Spend the day visiting specialty shops, day spas, artists’ studios, and art galleries.

  • Have lunch at one of the fine restaurants or a picnic on the tables along the seawall (take the stairs next to the "Boy and Dog" bronze sculpture down to the seawall or use the walkway at First and Anthes).

Overnight (several or more days)   top

  • Spend a day or two visiting specialty shops, day spas, artists’ studios, and art galleries.

  • Have lunch at one of the restaurants or a picnic on the tables along the seawall (if the tide is out, take a stroll on the sandy beach).

  • Stay at one of the many B&Bs or other accommodation in Langley. There is a special place for everyone to stay, from simple to elegant, forested to water settings, rustic to romantic, and in-town to secluded.

Excursions   top

With Langley as home base, enjoy the following excursions:

  • A day trip off island by ferry to Port Townsend. Leave your car near the ferry dock and walk on the boat. It's a 30-minute ride to downtown Port Townsend, the historic Victorian Seaport and Arts Community on the Olympic peninsula. You can visit specialty shops, art galleries, artists’ studios, restaurants, walk along the beach, rent a bicycle and ride out to Fort Warden State Park, or rent a kayak and cruise the shoreline.

  • Catch the early morning ferry to Port Townsend (walk on without your car) and take the early cruise to Friday Harbor in the San Juan Islands, do some whale watching along the way, and return in time for the 5:30pm ferry back to Whidbey Island, pick up your car and head back to Langley.

  • Take one of many scenic drives around Whidbey Island.

  • Watch the sunset from the beach at Ebey’s Landing or Maxwelton beach.

  • Washington Park, Anacortes, enjoy hiking, beachcombing and sweeping views of Rosario Strait and the San Juan islands.

  • Seattle  >  Langley  >  La Conner  >  Seattle
    • Seattle to Langley

      Starting from the Seattle Metro Area. Take I-5 north to Exit #189. Follow signs for the Mukilteo / Clinton ferry. Take the ferry to Clinton on Whidbey Island (20 minute ride). Follow SR 525 north to the first traffic signal, turn right on Langley Rd. and continue to downtown Langley.

    • Langley to La Conner

      Leaving Langley, starting from 1st Street go to 3rd Street. Continue on 3rd Street, then turn left onto S. Coles Rd., and follow to SR 525 intersection. Turn right onto SR 525 continue (it will turn into W. SR 20 continue toward Coupeville and Oak Harbor). Take SR 20 north across Fidalgo Island to the crossroads and take Hwy 20 east to La Conner - Whitney Rd. and follow signs to downtown La Conner.

    • La Conner back to Seattle

      Leaving La Conner, take Morris St. to Chilberg Rd. to Best Rd., turn right on Best Rd., follow until it turns into Fir Island Rd. Follow Fir Island Rd. to the town of Conway and then onto I-5 south to Seattle.

  • Seattle  >  Langley  >  La Conner  >  Fairhaven  >  Seattle
    • Seattle to Langley

      Starting from the Seattle Metro Area. Take I-5 north to Exit #189 West, SR 526 West. Follow signs for the Mukilteo / Clinton ferry. Take the ferry to Clinton on Whidbey Island (20 minute ride). Follow SR 525 north to the first traffic signal, turn right on Langley Rd. and continue to downtown Langley.

    • Langley to La Conner

      Leaving Langley, from 1st Street go to 3rd Street and turn right. Turn left onto Coles Rd., and continue to SR 525 intersection. Turn right onto SR 525 and continue (it will turn into SR 20 near Coupeville). Take SR 20 north across Fidalgo Island to the crossroads and take SR 20 east to La Conner - Whitney Rd. Turn right on La Conner-Whitney Rd. and follow the signs to downtown La Conner.

    • La Conner to the Fairhaven District of Bellingham

      Leaving La Conner, take Morris St. to La Conner - Whitney Rd. Follow it to SR 20. Turn right on SR 20 heading east to I-5 north. Go north on I-5 to Exit #231. Follow the signs to SR 11 north, aka Chuckanut Drive. Take Chuckanut Drive through farmland, and the town of Bow. Then, continue along Samish Bay past Larrabee State Park into the Fairhaven District.

    • Fairhaven District back to Seattle

      Leaving Fairhaven, take Old Fairhaven Pkwy to I-5 south to return to Seattle.

  • Seattle  >  Langley  >  Port Townsend  >  Seattle
    • Seattle to Langley

      Starting from the Seattle Metro Area. Take I-5 north to Exit #189. Follow signs for the Mukilteo/ Clinton ferry. Take the ferry to Clinton on Whidbey Island (20 minute ride). Follow SR 525 north to the intersection of SR 525 and Langley Rd. (first traffic signal). Turn right onto Langley Rd. and continue to downtown Langley.

    • Langley to Port Townsend

      Leaving Langley, from 1st Street go to 3rd Street and turn right.  Follow3rd Street until you see Coles Rd. Turn left onto Coles Rd. and continue to SR 525 intersection. Turn right onto SR 525 and continue west (it will turn into SR 20 continue near Coupeville). Before you come to Coupeville, turn left onto SR 20 West and follow signs to the Port Townsend Ferry. Take the Port Townsend - Keystone ferry to downtown Port Townsend. 

    • Port Townsend back to Seattle

      Leaving Port Townsend, take Water Street to SR 20 to SR 19 through Chimicum. Go straight at the 4 way stop onto Beaver Valley Rd. continue to SR 104. Take a left onto SR 104 heading east to the Hood Canal Bridge.

      At this point there are two options for returning to Seattle; turn left at the traffic light to SR 104 to Kingston to catch the Edmonds – Kingston ferry to Edmonds, or right to SR 3 to Bainbridge Island and the Seattle – Bainbridge ferry to downtown Seattle at Colman dock.

Directions to Langley   top

  • Starting from the Seattle Metro Area, take I-5 north to Exit #189 to SR526 West. Follow signs for the Mukilteo / Clinton ferry. Take the ferry to Clinton on Whidbey Island (20 minute ride). Follow SR525 North to the intersection (traffic signal) of SR525 and Langley Rd., turn right onto Langley Rd. and continue to downtown Langley.
